Joan Fiona Dickson OBE, or Fiona Dickson (best known as Fiona Castle) (born 1940 on the Wirral Peninsula, Cheshire〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Our Patron - Fiona Castle )〕) is a retired British dancer who is most notable for her marriage to the TV entertainer Roy Castle. They were married from 1963〔GRO Register of Marriages: SEP 1963 6a 1063 ETON - Roy Castle = Joan F. Dickson〕 until his death from lung cancer in September 1994. Mrs Castle has carried on her husband's campaign and until recently was actively involved in the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, which her husband set up shortly before his death. Her involvement with the foundation has seen her raise the profile of the illness, and call for stricter legislation on smoking, as her husband, a non-smoker, believed that his illness was caused by passive smoking, as he had worked in many smoky environments during his career. She was a supporter of legislation which saw smoking banned from virtually all enclosed public places in Britain from 1 July 2007.
